Doctor's visit & "Fay"

Maddie had a well baby check with immunizations on Friday. My little butter bean weighes 15 lbs., 1 oz. and is 26 1/4 in. long. She was very cautious during the exam. She didn't cry, but was very "serious" and didn't smile at her doctor. Maddie continues to be fascinated with Molly and has started laughing at other things. We started her on rice cereal this weekend. She made some interesting faces and our attempts so far have very messy! :0) I'm sure it will only get messier from here on out!

We survived Tropical Storm Fay with about 15 inches and rain for 4 days. Maddie was unaffected by the storm, but poor Molly was a mess! :0( We had a few creatures take up residence on the front porch to escape Fay. I attached two pictures of them.

5 months

Maddie is 5 months old!! Holy moly!!

Maddie has some new tricks to share. :0) She can sit well supported/propped up and sits nicely in her Bumbo chair. She can sit unsupported for several seconds and then... plop! Something new that she enjoys is sitting up in her stroller (without the car seat). I'll sometimes put her in the stroller and wheel her into the kitchen while I'm making dinner. This might keep her entertained long enough to get everything ready... or maybe not. HA! Maddie also loves grabbing for things... toys, the blanket she's lying on, Mommy's hair or necklace, Daddy's glasses, etc. My favorite new trick is her laughing. She's been smiling and giggling for months now, but this week she full out laughed. I was playing gremlin* with Molly and as Maddie watched she started cracking up! I think it's one of the best sounds I've ever heard!!!

* For those of you who don't know, "gremlin" is when I roughhouse with Molly and she makes these crazy sounds that Leila dubbed gremlin noises. She'll make the noises with anyone who roughhouses with her, but she's the loudest when she and I play. Go figure!

I LOVE the pictures of Maddie and Molly on their sides on the blanket and the Nemo "butt" shot! Hee, hee, hee...

This week's Maddie Movies...

Friends & Fun

Two weeks ago, we were lucky enough to have Mommy's ex-roomie and dear friend, Jess, visit us! Maddie and Molly loved playing and cuddling with Jess! (Molly was just ssssooooo starved for attention!) Mommy and Jess got a girls night out (THANK YOU DADDY!) to Jellyrolls, a piano bar, on the Disney Boardwalk! We sang the night away...

I hope this video doesn't make anyone seasick watching it! :0) Maddie was in her swing making such funny noises that I had to record it!

Maddie's newest "tricks"

While in PA, Maddie rolled from her back to belly and once she did it she didn’t stop! She’s also found her feet/toes… yum, yum, yum. They are definitely one of her favorite toys. Maddie LOVES her ExerSaucer and has the best time “standing” in it, playing with the toys, and making noises. She continues to be very chatty and delights in hearing her own voice… sometimes at top volume. Mommy’s new nickname for her is the little pterodactyl. She’s also so much more aware of Molly and will watch her while I’m playing fetch with her. (Fetch with Molly, not Maddie. HA!)

In this video, Maddie was smiling for me while I made funny faces.

Must eat toes, must eat toes, Oh-no, rolling, rolling, rolling... rolled!

Maddie's 1st trip to PA!

Maddie has had a very exciting summer so far! On July 8, Maddie took her first airplane ride up to Pennsylvania. She was a WONDERFUL baby! She was so good in the airport (even though we were delayed 5 hours) and was excellent during the flight (she slept most of the time).

For the first half of the trip, Maddie visited with her Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Jennifer and Uncle Dave, her cousins Erika and Mitchell, and Aunt Kelly and Uncle Daniel. She even got to meet some of Mommy and Daddy’s friends at the wonderful picnic Grandma and Grandpa hosted for her. Maddie got to meet and “play” with the children of Mommy and Daddy’s friends; Jimmy and Holly and also Bella.

For the second half of the trip, Maddie visited with her Nana, Poppy, and Uncle Matthew. Maddie met her Great Nana, Great Pop-pop, Great Aunt Marian, and Mommy’s cousins Laura, Rebecca, and Maggie. She also got to meet her Great-Great Grandma, Great Mam-ma, Great Aunt Roxy, Mommy’s cousin Dawn and her sweet daughter Annie. Maddie was BUSY during her visit.

The flight home was a good one (no delays) and Maddie slept for most of it. YAHOO! (Thank goodness Maddie is a good traveler – at this point – because really she has no choice.)
