At the beginning of the month, she started the School Skills class at Gymboree. She attends the class two mornings a week for two hours. It's a drop-off class which is part of Gymboree pre-school program. We thought it would be a good transition for Maddie from only taking Mommy & Me classes to having more independence in a school-like setting. It's also great practice for the Fall when she starts pre-school. She really loves "Gymboree School" (as she calls it) and looks forward to seeing Miss Jess, Miss Terri, and all her new buddies. Mommy was definitely more nervous than Maddie (go figure) and was so proud of how quickly Maddie took to Mommy not being in class with her. :0) Pre-school in the Fall will still be a big change for Maddie because it will be a brand new school, brand new teachers, and brand new friends but this seems to be a good first step. Mommy must admit that having a little break to run errands all by myself is pretty awesome!
Maddie also started Sports class at Gymboree. Like School Skills, Sports is for 3-5 year olds and it is a riot to watch!! So far she's learned to run in relay races, go through the obstacle course, and "shoot hoops" in basketball.
Maddie is becoming a very girlie girl! She continues to LOVE to dress-up and play with her princess dolls. Her newest thing is she wants her nails painted. Her favorite nails colors are pink, blue, red, yellow, and sparkles. She often asks for each hand to be painted a different color. :0)
The big excitement came mid-month when the playloft was built! Maddie adores her playloft and asks many, many, many times a day to play. Daddy and Maddie enjoy their special time after dinner swinging and sliding together!
Maddie was lucky enough to go to a bunch of Easter Egg hunts this year. She preferred to open the eggs as she went so she didn't get a lot of eggs at the hunts at Gymboree School and over Easter weekend but really seemed to enjoy hunting for them. We had a lovely Easter with the Johnson Family and Maddie had a lot of fun with the kids.
At the end of April, Maddie had her 3 year check. She is still long and lean measuring 38 1/4 inches (75% percentage) and weighing 29 1/2 pounds (25% percentage). She enjoyed participating in her exam by looking in her doctor's ears, eyes, and throat. :0)
